Posted by Admin Posted on May 10, 2024 There is a passion for climbing that goes beyond simple adventure—it’s a dedication to nature, preservation, and the essence of our planet—where the air is thin and the sights are stunning. At Beyond Mountains, we recognize the special relationship that exists between a person and a mountain and work to create an atmosphere that nurtures this relationship. The GiriPremi Institute of Pune set off on a historic expedition in the summer of 2019: the Mount Kanchenjunga Eco Expedition. The goal of this undertaking was to walk softly on Earth and leave a legacy of environmental care, not just footprints. It was not only about climbing the highest peak in India. At 8,586 meters high, Mount Kanchenjunga is more than simply a striking peak—its glaciers feed rivers that keep the region’s life alive, providing millions of people with access to water. GiriPremi started a cleanup campaign along the expedition route after realizing how vital it was to protect these delicate ecosystems and maintain the pure beauty of the highlands. However, they didn’t give up there. GiriPremi’s mountaineers conducted a scientific survey of the Kanchenjunga region, examining its abundant biodiversity, in collaboration with the Aagharkar Research Institute, Pune. They made an effort to comprehend and preserve the complex web of life that flourishes in these high-altitude environments by collecting samples of soil and plants. We at Beyond Mountains are fully in favor of projects such as the Mount Kanchenjunga Eco Expedition. We think that mountaineering has the potential to promote environmental responsibility and awareness in addition to being a great sport. Every hike and every summit offers the chance to observe directly the effects of human activity on our world, ranging from pollution to deforestation to the imminent threat of global warming.Mountains sustain innumerable species and ecosystems, making them more than just topographical characteristics. Our world would be drastically different without them. For this reason, Beyond Mountains has promised to contribute to GiriPremi’s admirable cause in the amount that represents the ascent of Mount Kanchenjunga. However, our assistance doesn’t stop there. We know that true fulfillment comes from protecting the mountains for future generations, not only from reaching the summit, which is why we’re prepared to pull up our sleeves and volunteer for this important purpose. We dream of the Himalayas, their beauty, their trials, their wild majesty, as ardent hikers and mountaineers. We’re prepared to give up everything, put in a lot of suffering, and give our all in the name of adventure. Furthermore, we are making an investment in a future where people and mountains live in harmony by supporting programs like the Mount Kanchenjunga Eco Expedition. We wish the courageous people going on this voyage all the best for a successful summit. Your bravery and devotion motivate us all to achieve greater things, not only in our mountaineering but also in our stewardship of this earth. © Sameer DivekarTeam Beyond Mountains
