Posted by Admin Posted on May 10, 2024 We live in a culture where we have been taught that we should always respect to every existential thing if you are going to use it in our life. And this thought has become an integral part of our Indian festivals. We worship God by seeing the inheritance of it in every object. We celebrate “Ayudh Puja” on occasion of Dashera. Every tool that we use in day to day life, we approach to it with a sense of reverence. As a mountaineer we bow down to the mountains and shows our respect to every equipment which help us to survive in the mountains. From a single bolt to 100 ft rope, we pay our respect to everything. Mountaineering tools are our weapons of worship which help us to make our expeditions successful in any erratic conditions. When you are in mountains you need to involve with every creatures, rocks, rivers or trees and respect them from the bottom of heart. When you have right courage to kneel in front of nature, nature will always bless you. Mountains are always harder than it looks hence showing respect will always help to save a life with a right kind of judgment. This quality of life is always praised from such kind of festivals. Many time it happens. When we are in the mountains supporting to group of people for climbing or a rappelling activity, some participants in a mood of enjoyment unknowingly stands on a rope itself. With a due respect, I suddenly bring it to the notice and ask to remove their feet from our ‘life line’. This is the pure consciousness we possess when we are using our mountaineering equipment. One must approach something with a deep sense of involvement to produce this kind of consciousness. For the reason, every person going to the nature should look up to the things in a certain way. We know the famous saying of Sir Edmund Hillary, “It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves” and I believe we can certainly conquer ourselves by bowing down to the tools in our life and make use of it.
